ਜੋ ਤਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਥੀਆ ॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ॥
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਭੰਗੁ ॥
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਗੁ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਧਨ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੈ ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਤਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
ਹਮਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਉ ॥
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਤ ਭਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸੇ ਪੂਛ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
ਦੂਜਾ ਮੇਟੇ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੪॥

Aasaa, First Mehl:
Whatever He has done, has proved to be true.
The True Guru bestows the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord.
With the Naam in the heart, the mind is not separated from the Lord.
Night and day, one dwells with the Beloved. ||1||
O Lord, please keep me in the Protection of Your Sanctuary.
By Guru's Grace, I have obtained the sublime essence of the Lord; I have received the wealth of the Naam and the nine treasures. ||1||Pause||
Those whose karma and Dharma - whose actions and faith - are in the True Name of the True Lord
I am forever a sacrifice to them.
Those who are imbued with the Lord are accepted and respected.
In their company, the supreme wealth is obtained. ||2||
Blessed is that bride, who has obtained the Lord as her Husband.
She is imbued with the Lord, and she reflects upon the Word of His Shabad.
She saves herself, and saves her family and friends as well.
She serves the True Guru, and contemplates the essence of reality. ||3||
The True Name is my social status and honor.
The love of the Truth is my karma and Dharma - my faith and my actions, and my self-control.
O Nanak, one who is forgiven by the Lord is not called to account.
The One Lord erases duality. ||4||14||

nullnullnullnullਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥nullਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਚੱਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਉੱਤਮ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁੱਛ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥nullnullnullਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਮ ਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਬੂਲ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਕੀਮਤੀ (ਨਾਮ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥nullnullnullਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਵਿਚਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਕੁਲ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਲਾਭ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥nullnullnull(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਹੈ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਕੁਲ ਦਾ ਧਰਵਾਸ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਤੇ ਕੁਲ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੇਰਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ, ਧਰਮ ਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੇ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਿਬੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ (ਫਿਰ) ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ) ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੪॥
