ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਮਨਿ ਭੂਖ ਲਗਾਈ ॥
ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਨਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਮੀਤਾ ॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਚੀਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਸਰਸਾ ॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਲੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਬਿਗਸਾ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੁਸਟੀ ਮੋਹ ਅੰਧਾ ॥
ਸਭ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਏ ਦੁਖੁ ਧੰਧਾ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਜਪੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੪॥੮॥੬੦॥

Aasaa, Fourth Mehl:
My mind suffers hunger for the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
Hearing the Naam, my mind is satisfied, O my Siblings of Destiny. ||1||
Chant the Naam, O my friends, O GurSikhs.
Chant the Naam, and through the Naam, obtain peace; through the Guru's Teachings, enshrine the Naam in your heart and mind. ||1||Pause||
Hearing the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mind is in bliss.
Reaping the profit of the Naam, through the Guru's Teachings, my soul has blossomed forth. ||2||
Without the Naam, the mortal is a leper, blinded by emotional attachment.
All his actions are fruitless; they lead only to painful entanglements. ||3||
The very fortunate ones chant the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, Har.
O Nanak, through the Guru's Teachings, one embraces love for the Naam. ||4||8||60||

(ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਭੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥nullਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖੋ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰੋ! (ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਹੋ। ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੋ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ, ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥null(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ!) ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮਨ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਇਆ ਆਦਿਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਹਰਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਖੱਟ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਖੁਸ਼ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥null(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਕੋਹੜਾ, ਕੋਹੜ ਦੇ ਦਰਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਲਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ ਕੰਮ ਉਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਦੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਲਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਜਾਲ ਹੀ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥nullਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੇਹੜਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ) ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲਗਨ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੮॥੬੦॥
