ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਕਲਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਰ ਜੁਤ ਹਨਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਲਯੋ ਉਠਾਇ ॥

Chaandar Kalaa Ko Jaara Juta Hani Nripa Layo Autthaaei ॥

After killing Chandra Kala along with her lover, he picked her up,

ਵੈਸਹ ਆਪਨੀ ਖਾਟ ਤਰ ਰਾਖਤ ਭਯੋ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੮॥

Vaisaha Aapanee Khaatta Tar Raakhta Bhayo Banaaei ॥8॥

And placed her under his bed.(8)

ਧਰਿ ਦੁਹੂੰਅਨ ਕੋ ਖਾਟ ਤਰ ਘਰੀ ਏਕ ਦੋ ਟਾਰਿ ॥

Dhari Duhooaann Ko Khaatta Tar Gharee Eeka Do Ttaari ॥

Keeping them under the bed for some time,

ਮਾਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਉਠਾ ਕਢੇ ਕੋਪ ਕਰਵਾਰ ॥੯॥

Maari Maari Kahi Kai Autthaa Kadhe Kopa Karvaara ॥9॥

He took out sword and shouted, ‘Kill him, kill him.’(9)

ਚੋਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਰਤ ਹੁਤੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੇ ਲਾਗਿਯੋ ਘਾਇ ॥

Chora Mohi Maarata Huto Triya Ke Laagiyo Ghaaei ॥

‘A thief had come to kill me, but (he) hit my wife instead.

ਕਾਢਿ ਭਗੌਤੀ ਤੁਰਤੁ ਮੈ ਯਾ ਕੋ ਦਯੋ ਸੁ ਘਾਇ ॥੧੦॥

Kaadhi Bhagoutee Turtu Mai Yaa Ko Dayo Su Ghaaei ॥10॥

‘Hurriedly I drew my sword out and killed him too.’(10)

Yahai Tinou Sou Bachan Sunaaee ॥

When people came to inquire, then the Raja narrated the same story.

ਜਬ ਤਸਕਰ ਮੁਹਿ ਘਾਵ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥

Jaba Tasakar Muhi Ghaava Chalaayo ॥

ਹੌ ਬਚਿ ਗਯੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕੌ ਘਾਯੋ ॥੧੧॥

Hou Bachi Gayo Triyaa Kou Ghaayo ॥11॥

‘The thief raided upon me, I escaped but my wife was struck.’(11)

ਜਬ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਘਾਵ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਕੇ ਲਾਗਿਯੋ ॥

Jaba Drirha Ghaava Triyaa Ke Laagiyo ॥

ਤਬ ਹੌ ਕਾਢਿ ਭਗੌਤੀ ਜਾਗਿਯੋ ॥

Taba Hou Kaadhi Bhagoutee Jaagiyo ॥

‘When the wife was fatally hurt, I took my sword out,

ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੇ ਨੇਹ ਕੋਪ ਮਨ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

Triya Ke Neha Kopa Man Dhaariyo ॥

ਚੋਰਹਿ ਠੌਰ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੨॥

Chorahi Tthour Maara Hee Daariyo ॥12॥

‘And considering my love for the woman, I slew him.’(12)

ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਪੁਰ ਸਭ ਕਹੈ ਧੰਨਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਤਵ ਹੀਯ ॥

Nar Naaree Pur Sabha Kahai Dhaanni Raajaa Tava Heeya ॥

Every body in the town praised Raja,

ਬਦਲੋ ਲੀਨੋ ਬਾਮ ਕੋ ਚੋਰ ਸੰਘਾਰਿਯੋ ਜੀਯ ॥੧੩॥

Badalo Leeno Baam Ko Chora Saanghaariyo Jeeya ॥13॥

Because he had killed the thief to revenge the death of the lady.(13)(1)
