ਜਿਹ ਪੈਡੈ ਲੂਟੀ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
ਸੋ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਦੂਰਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਬੀਥੀ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਹ ਲਾਲਚ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਘਾਟ ॥
ਦੂਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਉਹ ਜਨ ਤੇ ਬਾਟ ॥੨॥
ਜਹ ਆਵਟੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਘਨ ਸਾਥ ॥
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਸੰਗੀ ਸਾਧ ॥੩॥
ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਸਭ ਲਿਖਤੇ ਲੇਖਾ ॥
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨ ਪੇਖਾ ॥੪॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl, Panch-Pada:
That highway, upon which the water-carrier is plundered
- that way is far removed from the Saints. ||1||
The True Guru has spoken the Truth.
Your Name, O Lord, is the Way to Salvation; the road of the Messenger of Death is far away. ||1||Pause||
That place, where the greedy toll-collector dwells
- that path remains far removed from the Lord's humble servant. ||2||
There, where so very many caravans of men are caught,
The Holy Saints remain with the Supreme Lord. ||3||
Chitra and Gupat, the recording angels of the conscious and the unconscious, write the accounts of all mortal beings,
But they cannot even see the Lord's humble devotees. ||4||
Says Nanak, one whose True Guru is Perfect
- the unblown bugles of ecstasy vibrate for him. ||5||40||91||

nullnull(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਸ-ਪੂੰਜੀ) ਲੁਟਾ ਬੈਠਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਰਸਤਾ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੁਰੇਡਾ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥nullਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਮ-ਦੂਤਾਂ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ) ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਪਰੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥null(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਥੇ ਲਾਲਚੀ ਮਸੂਲੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪੱਤਣ ਹੈ (ਜਿਥੇ ਜਮ-ਮਸੂਲੀਏ ਕੀਤੇ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਉਹ ਰਸਤਾ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਪਰੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥null(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ (ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਾਫ਼ਲੇ (ਕੀਤੇ ਮੰਦ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਉਸ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਂਹਦਾ) ॥੩॥null(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਪਤ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਲ ਉਹ ਅੱਖ ਪੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੱਕ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੪॥nullਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵਾਜੇ ਵੱਜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਸੁਣੀ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ) ॥੫॥੪੦॥੯੧॥
