ਜਪ ਤਪ ਕਾ ਬੰਧੁ ਬੇੜੁਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਲੰਘਹਿ ਵਹੇਲਾ ॥
ਨਾ ਸਰਵਰੁ ਨਾ ਊਛਲੈ ਐਸਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥੧॥
ਤੇਰਾ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਜੀਠੜਾ ਰਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਚੋਲਾ ਸਦ ਰੰਗ ਢੋਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਾਜਨ ਚਲੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਕਿਉ ਮੇਲਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਗੰਠੜੀਐ ਮੇਲੇਗਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਵੀਛੁੜੈ ਜੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਈ ॥
ਆਵਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਿਆ ਸੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਚੋਲਾ ॥
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹ ਕੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬੋਲਾ ॥੪॥
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ਸਹੁ ਖਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
ਹਮ ਸਹ ਕੇਰੀਆ ਦਾਸੀਆ ਸਾਚਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੫॥੨॥੪॥

Soohee, First Mehl:
Build the raft of meditation and self-discipline, to carry you across the river.
There will be no ocean, and no rising tides to stop you; this is how comfortable your path shall be. ||1||
Your Name alone is the color, in which the robe of my body is dyed. This color is permanent, O my Beloved. ||1||Pause||
My beloved friends have departed; how will they meet the Lord?
If they have virtue in their pack, the Lord will unite them with Himself. ||2||
Once united with Him, they will not be separated again, if they are truly united.
The True Lord brings their comings and goings to an end. ||3||
One who subdues and eradicates egotism, sews the robe of devotion.
Following the Word of the Guru's Teachings, she receives the fruits of her reward, the Ambrosial Words of the Lord. ||4||
Says Nanak, O soul-brides, our Husband Lord is so dear!
We are the servants, the hand-maidens of the Lord; He is our True Lord and Master. ||5||2||4||

nullnull(ਹੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਜੇਹਾ ਬੇੜਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ, ਜਿਸ (ਬੇੜੇ) ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ (ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਛੇਤੀ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ। (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਤੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤਾ ਐਸਾ ਸੌਖਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ ਕਿ (ਤੇਰੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ) ਨਾਹ ਇਹ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-) ਸਰੋਵਰ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ) ਉਛਾਲੇ ਮਾਰੇਗਾ ॥੧॥ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ (-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਮਜੀਠ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਪੱਕੇ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਚੋਲਾ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥nullਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਦੇ ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਾਂਧੀ! (ਕੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ? (ਵੇਖ!) ਜੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥nullਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਏ ਜੇ ਉਹ ਸਚ-ਮੁਚ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਕਦੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥nullਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪਾ ਸੰਵਾਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਫਲ ਵਜੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹਨ ॥੪॥nullਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ! (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਫਿਰ ਇਉਂ ਯਕੀਨ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਅਸੀਂ ਖਸਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਡੇ (ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ) ਕਾਇਮ ਹੈ ॥੫॥੨॥੪॥
