ਫਿਰ ਜਾ ਚੜੇ ਸੁਮੇਰ ਪਰ ਸਿਧ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਆਈ॥

Fir Ja Charrae Sumaer Par Sidhh Manddalee Dhrishattee Aee||

Then he climbed up to the Sumer mountain where he came across a group of siddhs.

ਚੌਰਾਸੀਹ ਸਿਧ ਗੋਰਖਾਦਿ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਗਣਤੀ ਵਰਤਾਈ॥

Charaseeh Sidhh Gorakhadh Man Andhar Ganathee Varathaee||

The mind of the eighty four siddhs and Gorakh filled with surprise and doubts.

ਸਿਧ ਪੁੱਛਨ ਸੁਨ ਬਾਲਿਆ ਕੌਨ ਸ਼ਕਤ ਤੁਹਿ ਏਥੇ ਲਿਆਈ॥

Sidhh Pushhan Sun Balia Kan Shakath Thuhi Eaethhae Liaee||

Siddhas asked (Guru Nanak), (O young boy! Which power brought you here?)

ਹਉਂ ਜਪਿਆ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰੋ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤ ਸੰਗ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈ॥

Houn Japia Paramaesharo Bhao Bhagath Sang Tharree Laee||

Guru Nanak replied that for coming to this place (I have remembered the Lord with loving devotion and meditated upon Him deeply.)

ਆਖਣ ਸਿਧ ਸੁਣ ਬਾਲਿਆ ਅਪਣਾ ਨਾਂ ਤੁਮ ਦੇਹੁ ਬਤਾਈ ॥

Akhan Sidhh Sun Balia Apana Nan Thum Dhaehu Bathaee ||

Siddhs said, (O young man, tell us your name).

ਬਾਬਾ ਆਖੇ ਨਾਥ ਜੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੇ ਗਤ ਪਾਈ॥

Baba Akhae Nathh Jee Naanak Nam Japae Gath Paee||

Baba replied, (O respected Nath! This Nanak has attained this position through rememberance of the name of the Lord).

ਨੀਚ ਕਹਾਇ ਊਚ ਘਰ ਆਈ ॥੨੮॥

Neech Kehae Ooch Ghar Aee ||a||

By calling himself lowly, one attains the high position.
