Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਵੈ ਪਰਾਈ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

Janam Janam Kee Mal Dhhovai Paraee Apana Keetha Pavai ||

He washes off the filth of other peoples' incarnations, but he obtains the rewards of his own actions.

ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਢੋਈ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਪਚਾਵੈ ॥੧॥

Eeha Sukh Nehee Dharageh Dtoee Jam Pur Jae Pachavai ||1||

He has no peace in this world, and he has no place in the Court of the Lord. In the City of Death, he is tortured. ||1||

ਨਿੰਦਕਿ ਅਹਿਲਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥

Nindhak Ahila Janam Gavaeia ||

The slanderer loses his life in vain.

ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਕਾਹੂ ਬਾਤੈ ਆਗੈ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

He cannot succeed in anything, and in the world hereafter, he finds no place at all. ||1||Pause||

ਕਿਰਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਬਪੁਰੇ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਓਹੁ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥

Kirath Paeia Nindhak Bapurae Ka Kia Ouhu Karai Bichara ||

Such is the fate of the wretched slanderer - what can the poor creature do?

ਤਹਾ ਬਿਗੂਤਾ ਜਹ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਰਾਖੈ ਓਹੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥

Theha Bigootha Jeh Koe N Rakhai Ouhu Kis Pehi Karae Pukara ||2||

He is ruined there, where no one can protect him; with whom should he lodge his complaint? ||2||

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਕਤਹੂੰ ਨਾਹੀ ਖਸਮੈ ਏਵੈ ਭਾਣਾ ॥

Nindhak Kee Gath Kathehoon Nahee Khasamai Eaevai Bhana ||

The slanderer shall never attain emancipation; this is the Will of the Lord and Master.

ਜੋ ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦ ਕਰੇ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਤਿਉ ਸੰਤਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥੩॥

Jo Jo Nindh Karae Santhan Kee Thio Santhan Sukh Mana ||3||

The more the Saints are slandered, the more they dwell in peace. ||3||

ਸੰਤਾ ਟੇਕ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਸਹਾਈ ॥

Santha Ttaek Thumaree Suamee Thoon Santhan Ka Sehaee ||

The Saints have Your Support, O Lord and Master; You are the Saints' Help and Support.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਦੀਏ ਰੁੜਾਈ ॥੪॥੨॥੪੧॥

Says Nanak, the Saints are saved by the Lord; the slanderers are drowned in the deep. ||4||2||41||
